The HP Compaq NC6000 is an elegantly designed notebook geared more towards the professional. It comes with a Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HDD. This laptop comes with a lot of power and speed behind it.
Unlike many other computers in that category, it is relatively light and easy to carry. The 14 inch screen features a bright display with good resolution. One of the best things about the NC6000 is that it has a battery life of 5-6 hours which offers great versatility when one is traveling.
The lap top comes with a compact design, weighing about 5 pounds and 1.3 inches thick. For the individual who is traveling a lot, this light weight computer offers efficiency and portability. The full keyboard is fairly easy to use despite the small screen size. The keys are smooth and brisk. The laptop also a pointing stick and a touch pad. Located on the computer is a switch to turn the Blue tooth on and off and the device also includes a secure digital media slot, two USB 2.0 ports and an S video port.
With a multibay device, the device is not a disappointment at all. It is versatile, fast and has an impressive battery life, making it unique in the field of notebooks. The note book is everything that a professional would like to have. It has a DVD Rom and CD Drive, dual pointing devices, an internal blue tooth and a wireless interface card. There is also a gigabyte Ethernet port for much faster connections to a company network.
The touch pads and eraser have separate sets of mouse buttons but are reasonably easy to use. There is minimal friction of the touch pads and fingers can easily glide through it. The laptop can easily be upgraded with extra RAM modules. For extra security, HP does offer a $50 smart card reader that uses a password protected smart card to prevent unauthorized access. For an extra $75 one can also order the HP's Protect Tools security module, a built in chip that allows one to set up the notebook to automatically encrypt key files and folders.
The NC6000 is a great machine not only for the business professional but almost anyone who wants a light weight device which performs well on the road. Though not as elegant as the other expensive brand names, the HP NC6000 is one to be kept at the back of the mind when shopping for a notebook.
