Why does dxdiag only recognize 3GB of RAM when I have 4GB Installed?
I am running Windows XP Pro SP3.
I have two 2GB sticks of RAM installed on my laptop, for a total of 4GB of RAM. But when I run dxdiag it says I only have 3072MB of RAM.
However, when I run the system Information. (Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information) it says I have 4096MB.
Which one is right? and why is the other wrong?
eventhough the system info shows 4GB..windows xp 32bit and vista 32bit OS cannot use 4GB of memory
so in your case it is not a problem with your hardware but it is the 32 bit OS limitations..
to use full 4GB you have to installed a 64 bit OS
