Can I install my old win 98SE drive with 40 GB of files on it in my new Win XP computer as a slave and access?
I have 40GB of files on the old drive, do not want to migrate everything as I would with Laplink PCMover. I want to be able to access old files, maybe drag and drop some to new computer. It would be nice to also use the old drive for storage/backup space. Old drive is 100GB, new is 160GB. I have tried to find the answer online and may not have asked it the right way. Will the new computer get confused by the old OS on the old drive, or will the new computer not even notice the OS on the old drive it it is in there as a slave ( second) drive? Other question is in old computer second drive was "D" but XP has a partition named "D" on "C" so will the slaved drive be "E" or what? Thanks for any help
XP will assign it a drive letter, just look in My computer to find it.
You shouldn't have any problems connecting it into your PC, just make sure that you have the master/slave settin.gs set up OK and your boot settings will remain the same
