Specifications: The Acer AS4530-6823 laptop is an entry level 14-inch consumer laptop packed with all the features for moderate computing needs. It is powered by a 2GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-62 processor and 3GB of RAM. The RAM can be upgraded to a maximum of 4GB. Like many notebooks of its class in the market, this Acer laptop has a 320GB of storage. It is wi-fi ready (802.11b/g) and also comes with built-in stereo speakers, a DVD RW drive, a web cam and a card reader. It has a 6-cell battery pack that can last up to 3 hours on a single charge.
Design: The Acer AS4530-6823 laptop weights at 5.3 pounds, and measures at 13.3 x 9.6 x 1.5 inches. It sports Acer's Gemstone design (award-winning). The Gemstone design is mainly featured in the exterior of the laptop. The exterior has a glossy, almost shimmering surface that looks really nice. The interior on the other hand sports a plain (almost boring) color. The frame around the screen and the keyboard area is black/gray in color and has a matte surface.
Features & Performance: Considering the processing power, large storage, decent specs and a bargain price tag, despite its flaws, the Acer AS4530-6823 laptop is actually a pretty good buy. It currently costs around $500 each. Laptops with similar specs from other brands such as Sony, HP, and Toshiba are $200-$300 more expensive than this Acer laptop. This is probably due to the fact that it runs on a AMD processor instead of an Intel processor (not an issue for me as AMD has proved to be just as good as Intel processors). The decent specs level also makes it a capable portable device for work or entertainment. I would highly recommend the Acer AS4530-6823 laptop to any price-sensitive consumers.
