Why do i get only 232GB on my mac book pro when i ordered 250GB hard drive?
I ordered my mac book pro only a week ago. it is the february 2008 edition. I ordered a 250GB Serial ATA; 5400 rpm but when i look at my hard drive on finder it says the hard drive capacity is is 232GB why is this?

Yes, the operating system does take up space, but that is part of the 232GB the person has left.
It is the way they calculate GB versus the way a PC calculates GB size, and the formatting of the hard drive. Retailers say 1000MB = 1GB. In REALITY, 1024MB = 1GB. So you lose 24 MB's per GB. This is normal for every computer, Mac or PC
