how to complete the format of my new seagate 160gb slave hard disk?
ok i just bought my new hhd and installed it but before i can start using it i need to format it but the format doesnt complete it stops at 99% and a prompt pops out "unable to complete format" what should i do? im using windos xp and kinda old mother board w/c i bought at around yr 2003..
When you partitioneds the drive befroe formatting did you set it as a disc that might need to be bootable or simply create an extended partition on it ?
I'd suggest if only using as data, select EXTENDED partition and create a partition on it, then format this as NTFS.
Failing that it COULD be the motherboard doesn't support drives over 137GB but unlikely it would even let you sstart a format if that was teh case
