I agree that vista has problems... its problem is its security, i once had a spyware on my pc and iscaned with windows defender and Live one care, then they both failed to get it, then i got Superantispyware and it found and got rid of it! microsoft should increase Vista's Defence against this stuff not putting annoying Premision Windows...
P.S: i use Vista Home Premium , i like it cause it has good graphics, theme, Fast, other good stuff but if i had an option of down grading i'd get windows xp.
My Pc has 2gb Ram and its speed is 2.4ghz with intel Core 2 du Quad( the second fastest one).
PPL who like Xp i say KEEP it if you are happy with its performance but i fyou think your Computer can do more, i Suggest getting Vista, you might be dissapointed or maybe even like it.

I have to computer that are identical. Both have the same motherboard, processor, and ram configurations. One runs Vista and the other runs XP. Here is what I've found. Both run very well, but the XP machine is slower. It boots slower, and it loads programs a little slower. I find Vista to be more secure then XP, but Vista can get a little annoying with a couple of it's little warnings. Vista is a little prettier then XP. Some of the older software does not function on Vista, but that's how it's been with every new OS from Microsoft.
I guess that if I had to make the choice today I would go with Vista, but that's only because it's support will last longer.
Vista does require quite a bit more resources to run, so that can be a factor. If you are thinking about Vista, have at least 1 gig of fairly fast ram installed, two gigs is much better.
One other thought. Along with the two desktops I also run a laptop. All three are connected to my home network. I had no trouble setting the network with the two different operating system. All three work together flawlessly, and share data via a NAS (Network Attached Storage) unit.
